Job Summary
The Perioperative Nurse will be responsible for providing high standards of perioperative care to patients, ensuring safe surgical outcomes and achieving patient safety goals. This role involves assessing patient needs, preparing patients for surgery, assisting in the operating room, and providing post-operative care. The Perioperative Nurse will work closely with the surgical team to deliver exceptional patient care throughout the surgical journey.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive perioperative care, including assessing patient needs, preparing patients for surgery, and ensuring patient safety.
- Assist the surgeon in the operating room by handling equipment and surgical instruments, anticipating the surgeon's needs, and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Conduct perioperative assessments, review medical records, ensure necessary documents and consents are in order, administer medication, and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Monitor patient vitals, assist with anesthesia administration, and manage surgical equipment and supplies during procedures.
- Provide post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs, managing pain, providing wound care, and educating patients and families.
- Respond to and report abnormal recordings to the person in charge.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Ensure proper documentation, maintain confidentiality, and handle handover between shifts.
- Assist the anesthetist during induction and reversal of anesthesia.
- Implement emergency procedures, including resuscitation, as and when necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Community Health Nursing.
- Higher Diploma in Perioperative Nursing.
- 2 years of working experience as a nurse, including 1 year of experience as a Perioperative Nurse.
- Valid BLS and ACLS certification.
- Valid Nursing Council license.
