1. Laboratory Technician
Position: 1
Location: Coptic Hope Center, Nairobi Ngong Road Tree
Employment Type: 12 Months Contract.

Job Overview
The Laboratory technician will be responsible for receiving, labelling and sampling the tests done. The technician will also ensure the laboratory activities are ran smoothly without discrepancies.
The Successful technicians will also ensure effective storing of samples and efficient inventory management and also shipping of laboratory samples when necessary.

Duties And Responsibilities
Successful candidates shall have the following tasks:
- On timely generation of maintenance schedule for maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Keep an eye on stock outs and notify the Administration via Procurement department for sufficient supplies to ensure smooth running of the laboratory.
- Collaborate with senior nurses on duty to enhance updated data base of the laboratory operations.
- Efficiently ensure all the samples collected are processed on time, results documented and dispatched.
- Ensure all the laboratory equipments are working sufficiently and are maintained on time.
- Ensure all laboratory safety practices are followed.
- Efficiently preform the inventory management of the laboratory supplies.
- Track all laboratory specimens and update them on the laboratory database.
- Ensure all specimens and results are recorded in the laboratory book.
- Effectively maintain freezer temperatures as per the guidelines.
- Coordinate delivery and collection of results and specimens respectively to inside and outside pathologist.
- Defrost and clean laboratory freezers as needed.
- Ensure proper labelling of samples and all necessary documentation is done.
- Ensure cervical swabs samples are effectively stored at -80C temperature rates.
- On time update the excel log to track all samples that were collected and also include the date of release and issuing of results.
- Key in the laboratory results in Excel and Redcap accurately.
- Perform any other duty as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
- Bachelors degree in Bio-Medical Technology, Microbiology, laboratory science e.t.c.
- Registered and Licensed by KMLTTB.
- Previous experience in Molecular laboratory Techniques is an added advantage.
- Previous experience in managing a laboratory of more than 2 years.
- Experience working in a research laboratory.
- Having familiarity with good laboratory practices is an added advantage.
- Certification with IATA is an added advantage.
- Computer Profiency.
