Job Summary

St. Francis Community Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Officer to provide hands-on patient management in both outpatient and inpatient units. The ideal candidate will oversee diagnosis, treatment initiation, patient monitoring, and medical procedures, ensuring the highest level of care is delivered efficiently.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage outpatient and inpatient patient care, initiate treatment, and monitor progress.
  • Facilitate clear patient referral mechanisms for those requiring specialist care.
  • Ensure proper admission and discharge of patients.
  • Recognize and manage potential medical complications and refer cases as needed.
  • Conduct medico-surgical consultations and perform indicated procedures.
  • Prescribe and interpret diagnostic tests to assess infections or abnormalities.
  • Perform emergency care and escalate cases to specialists where required.
  • Participate in and facilitate Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with the Kenya Medical and Dentist Board (KMPDC).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Medical Officer in a busy healthcare facility.
  • Experience working in an ICU setting is an added advantage.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is mandatory.
  • ATLS Certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
