Job Summary
Equity Afia Busia is seeking a dedicated Resident Medical Officer to provide a wide range of clinical services. The role requires a professional with a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine or Surgery (MBChB or MBBS), a valid license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council, and at least one year of post-internship experience. The successful candidate will possess strong clinical and patient management skills, proficiency in computer applications, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conducting thorough medical examinations and accurately diagnosing and managing patient conditions.
Performing medical and minor surgical procedures as per clinical competency.
Responding to medical emergencies and providing immediate care.
Providing health education and counseling to patients and their families.
Maintaining accurate and confidential medical records and documentation.
Participating in the management of medicines, medical instruments, and equipment.
Ensuring compliance with healthcare policies, regulations, and reporting procedures.
Collaborating effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and multidisciplinary patient care.
Utilizing Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for patient data and reporting.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of clinical services and patient safety.
Adhering to professional ethics and legal standards in medical practice.
Conducting ward rounds and managing inpatient care.
Providing compassionate care and clear communication to patients and their families.
Participating in continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or MBBS) from a recognized university.
Registered and with a valid license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
At least one (1) year post-internship clinical experience in either a public or private hospital.
Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Knowledge of healthcare policies, documentation, and reporting procedures.
Proficiency in computer skills, especially Health Management Information Systems.
Desirable Competencies:
Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
Knowledge of the laws of Kenya, regulations, guidelines, and health schemes.
Good report writing skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, patients, and other stakeholders.
