Job Summary

Equity Afia Nakuru is seeking a dedicated Community Oral Health Officer to provide a wide range of oral health services. The role requires a professional with a Diploma in Community Oral Health, a valid license from the Oral Health Association of Kenya (OHAK) or the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), and at least two years of experience. The successful candidate will be proficient in computer applications, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong commitment to high-quality patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducting oral health assessments and diagnosing common oral diseases.

  • Providing basic dental treatments, such as fillings, extractions, and scaling.

  • Performing preventive procedures, including fluoride application and pit and fissure sealants.

  • Educating individuals and communities on oral hygiene practices and healthy dietary habits.

  • Organizing and participating in community oral health promotion programs and outreach activities.

  • Referring complex dental cases to dentists or specialists as appropriate.

  • Maintaining accurate patient dental records and ensuring confidentiality.

  • Sterilizing dental instruments and maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment.

  • Managing and maintaining dental equipment, ensuring its proper functioning.

  • Dispensing prescribed oral health medications.

  • Collaborating effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.

  • Participating in continuous professional development to stay updated on oral health practices.

  • Managing dental supplies and inventory effectively.

  • Contributing to hospital quality improvement initiatives related to oral health.

  • Providing compassionate and patient-centered care.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Community Oral Health.

  • Registered with a valid license from Oral Health Association of Kenya (OHAK) / Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

  • Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience.

  • Proficient in computer applications.

  • Good communication skills.
