Job Summary
The Assistant Community Health Officer III will play a vital role in community health initiatives within Vihiga County. This position involves collecting health data at the household level, maintaining community health unit registers, identifying common ailments and health cases for referral, conducting home visits, sensitizing communities on health matters, monitoring child growth, managing community health resource centers, and coordinating community meetings and action days.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
- Collecting health-related data at the household level for analysis.
- Maintaining and updating community health unit registers and keeping records.
- Identifying common ailments and minor injuries at the community level.
- Identifying and referring health cases to appropriate health facilities.
- Visiting homes to determine the health situation and dialogue with household members.
- Identifying and sensitizing communities on health monitoring, specifically growth of children under the age of five years.
- Identifying defaulters of health interventions and referring them to the appropriate health facilities.
- Managing community health resource Centers.
- Convening and coordinating monthly community meetings and action days.
- Providing basic health education and promotion.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Diploma in any of the following disciplines:
- Community Health Nursing
- Community Health
- Community Oral Health
- Psychology
- Nutrition
- Environmental Health
- Counselling
- Social Work
- Community Development
- Health Promotion and Education from a recognized institution.
- Certificate in Computer Applications Skills from a recognized Institution.
