Job Summary
The Radiographer III position at Vihiga County Government is an entry and training grade for radiographers. Working under the supervision of experienced officers, this role is responsible for providing essential radiographic services to patients, processing and maintaining patient information, and managing radiographic supplies, contributing to the diagnostic capabilities of the county's healthcare facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training grade for the Radiographers cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of an experienced officer.
Specific duties will include:
- Providing radiographic services to the patients, including conducting X-rays and other imaging procedures.
- Processing, verifying and maintaining information relating to patients, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of radiological records.
- Ordering and maintaining records of radiographic supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels for continuous operations.
- Operating and maintaining radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensuring patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
- Assisting in quality assurance programs for imaging services.
- Adhering to radiation safety protocols.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) with grade C (plain) in English/Kiswahili, Biology/Biological Sciences or Physics/Physical Sciences, and C- in Mathematics.
- Diploma in any of the following:
- Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences
- Ultrasound
- Computerized Tomography
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- Mammography
- Nuclear Medicine
- Radiation Therapy
- Digital Medical Imaging equipment or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
