Job Summary
The Teaching and Learning Assistant will report to the class teacher and other senior staff. The main duties include assisting with daily classroom activities, working with individual and small groups of pupils, preparing lesson materials, and helping to maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment. Duties & Responsibilities
Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities, including the preparation and resourcing of lessons, and the operation of equipment like computers and iPads.
Student Interaction: Work with individual pupils and lead or plan for small groups in subjects such as phonics, reading, writing, and math. Give regular feedback on pupils' progress to the class teacher.
Administrative & Clerical Tasks: Perform necessary clerical duties like photocopying, laminating, filing, and changing reading books.
Safety & Supervision: Maintain safety in the classroom and supervise pupils during playtime, changing for PE and swimming, and on school trips.
Behavior Management: Monitor pupil behavior and encourage positive behavior management.
Instructional Support: Carry out instructional exercises assigned by the class teacher to help pupils with motor skills development or other needs.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other TLAs, participate in ongoing school training, and assist with whole school events, including occasional weekend or evening commitments.
Extracurricular Activities: Lead afternoon activities and participate in sporting activities. Assist with class assemblies and school plays.
