Job Summary

The Ground Staff member will be responsible for maintaining the school grounds to the highest standards. This includes a wide range of duties from maintaining lawns and cleaning walkways to ensuring fire safety and reporting potential hazards. The role requires a candidate who is diligent, proactive, and committed to ensuring a safe and positive environment for the entire school community.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Grounds Maintenance:

    • Maintain school lawns for a clean and tidy appearance.

    • Keep children's playgrounds, car parks, and walkways clean, tidy, and free from litter.

    • Ensure all extraction vents and lighting are kept clean, and replace defective light bulbs.

    • Maintain gutter clearance to ensure rainwater flows without blockage.

  • Safety & Security:

    • Check fire alarm points weekly and when requested, including fire exits, door retaining devices, and fire emergency lights.

    • Understand and ensure the implementation of the Health & Safety (H&S) policy, as well as emergency and fire procedures.

    • Report any faulty appliances, damaged furniture or equipment, and any potential hazards to the Estate Manager.

    • Ensure the security of the school is maintained at all times.

  • Support:

    • Assist in setting up all pitches for matches.

    • Where relevant, attend to grounds maintenance contractors working on site.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.

  • A Plumbing course will be considered an added advantage.

  • A strong work ethic with an eye for detail.

  • The ability to work under guidance and supervision.

  • A commitment to providing excellent care and attention to the school community.
