Job Summary

The Registered Nurse III is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care, including patient assessment, treatment implementation, and health education within county health facilities. This role involves managing diverse clinical tasks such as maternal care, immunizations, and emergency interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The successful candidate will maintain high standards of clinical safety and documentation while working under the supervision of the facility's Nursing Officer in Charge.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans based on identified health needs.

  • Implement nursing interventions and continuously evaluate patient outcomes to adjust care strategies accordingly.

  • Provide specialized healthcare services, including the Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) and routine immunizations.

  • Support maternal health through the provision of PMTCT services, comprehensive ante-natal care, and safe delivery assistance.

  • Offer professional health education and counselling to patients and their families regarding chronic disease management and wellness.

  • Facilitate seamless patient admissions and initiate comprehensive discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.

  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential medical records concerning patients' health conditions and administered treatments.

  • Ensure a tidy, sterile, and safe clinical environment in compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols.

  • Collect, compile, and analyze clinical data for departmental reporting and health surveillance purposes.

  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for potential adverse reactions or side effects.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary medical teams to provide holistic care for critically ill or specialized patients.

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and perform life-saving nursing procedures when required.

  • Participate in community health outreach programs and specialized clinics as directed by the supervisor.

  • Monitor and manage the use of medical supplies and equipment within the assigned ward or clinic.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor to enhance hospital operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN), Kenya Registered Nursing (KRN), or Kenya Registered Midwifery (KRM) from a recognized institution.

  • Valid Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).

  • Possession of a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.

  • A recognized Certificate in computer application skills for digital health record management.

  • Strong knowledge of clinical nursing protocols and the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to healthcare.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with diverse populations.

  • Proven commitment to upholding medical ethics and patient confidentiality.
