Job Summary
The Clinical Instructor will be responsible for teaching, supervising, and guiding students in a clinical setting. This role involves coordinating clinical placements, evaluating student performance, and ensuring that all practical learning aligns with the curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a valid practice license, and at least three years of professional experience, including a minimum of one year of teaching.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Supervision: Provide direct instruction and guidance to students in a clinical setting and a skills lab.
Curriculum Support: Ensure that clinical experiences are well-aligned with the curriculum's learning objectives.
Placement & Evaluation: Organize and schedule clinical placements and rotations. Evaluate student performance and progress through formative and summative assessments.
Administrative & Collaboration:
Collaborate with program coordinators to establish Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with clinical facilities.
Ensure timely payments to clinical assessors.
Mentorship & Advising: Act as a role model and mentor for nursing students and provide academic advising.
Logistics: Manage supplies in the skills lab to ensure all necessary materials are available for practice.
Departmental Contribution: Actively contribute to the department's key performance indicators and the university's mission and vision.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Valid practice license.
Membership in a professional body.
Experience
At least three (3) years of professional experience at a recognized and busy hospital.
At least one (1) year of teaching experience at a university or college.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team.
Demonstrated high level of integrity.
Demonstrated marketing capability.
