Job Summary
The County Government of Tharaka Nithi is seeking to recruit 10 Registered Nurses specializing in Accident and Emergency Care. These roles require a Kenyan citizen with a Diploma in Nursing and a Higher National Diploma in Accident and Emergency Care Nursing, along with valid registration and a practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya. Successful candidates will be crucial in providing immediate and effective nursing services to patients presenting with medical and clinical emergencies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Offer specialized nursing services to patients in the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Care unit.
- Ensure that medical and other clinical emergencies are well responded to and patients are well attended to promptly.
- Ensure that the casualty unit of the hospital has all the necessary medical supplies, equipment, and resources for emergency care.
- Guide and counsel patients, clients, and staff on various health issues, especially during emergency situations.
- Refer patients and clients to appropriate specialized health facilities or units within the facility for ongoing care.
- Coach and mentor students on attachment within the A&E department, guiding them in emergency nursing practices.
- Organize health management teams and convene health management committee meetings to discuss A&E operational strategies.
- Collect and compile data for research on nursing services issues relevant to accident and emergency care.
- Perform rapid patient assessments to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize care.
- Administer life-saving interventions and emergency medications as per protocol.
- Monitor vital signs and observe patient status closely, identifying any changes.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated emergency response.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in the A&E unit.
- Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and their families during stressful emergency situations.
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient emergency service delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Be a holder of at least a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Be a holder of a Higher National Diploma in Accident and Emergency Care Nursing.
- Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya as an Accident and Emergency Care Nurse.
- Possess a valid Practicing License from the Nursing Council of Kenya as an Accident and Emergency Care Nurse.
- Must be computer literate.
