Job Summary
The County Government of Tharaka Nithi is seeking to recruit 5 Registered Clinical Officers specializing in Emergency and Critical Care. These roles require a Kenyan citizen with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery and a Higher National Diploma in Critical Care, along with valid registration and a practicing license from the Clinical Officer’s Council of Kenya. Successful candidates will be crucial in ensuring that critical care centers are well-equipped, meticulously monitored, and provide advanced care for patients in critical conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure that the critical care centers are clean and in the right conditions to provide the conducive environment needed by the patients.
- Ensure that the critical care centers have all the machinery, equipment, and materials needed to provide critical care to patients admitted into the critical care centers of the hospital.
- Set up, monitor, and ensure that medical equipment and devices such as patient monitors, mechanical ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices, transducers, or pressure lines among others are functioning properly in the facility.
- Receive patients in critical conditions that are referred to the critical care centers and book them in for advanced care and attention in the facility.
- Monitor patients’ progress and changes in status and indications of their health conditions, providing timely interventions.
- Administer the prescribed therapeutic procedures to patients in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records, health information, and data accurately at the Critical Care Centers in the hospital.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and coordinated patient care.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide immediate life-saving interventions.
- Educate patients and their families about their condition and treatment plans.
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols within the critical care environment.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training relevant to emergency and critical care.
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor to support optimal critical care service delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Be a holder of at least a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution in Kenya.
- Be a holder of Higher National Diploma in Critical Care.
- Be registered by the Clinical Officer’s Council of Kenya.
- Possess a valid Practicing License from the Clinical Officer’s Council of Kenya.
- Must be computer literate.
