Job Summary
The Medical Officer in Charge at Valley Hospital will oversee clinical operations, ensuring the provision of high-quality, affordable healthcare. This leadership role involves mentoring staff, implementing quality improvement initiatives, and maintaining strong ethical standards while providing compassionate patient care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide effective clinical leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering a culture of excellence in patient care.
- Oversee the daily clinical operations of the hospital, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Implement and monitor strategic plans for quality improvement initiatives across all departments.
- Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams, promoting collaborative approaches to patient management.
- Maintain high standards of patient care, ensuring safety, ethical practice, and compassionate service.
- Conduct regular reviews of patient care outcomes and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Participate in strategic planning for the hospital's growth and development.
- Manage and optimize resource utilization within the clinical departments.
- Address and resolve complex clinical and operational challenges.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records and departmental activities.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBChB) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Additional qualifications in healthcare management or clinical leadership are an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years post-internship experience, three of which must be in a leadership role in a facility of similar size.
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid practicing license.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor clinical staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competency in strategic planning and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate clinical teams towards achieving high standards of patient care.
- A compassionate approach to patient care and strong ethical standards.
