Job Summary
The Great Lakes Medical Centre is looking for a Cateress to manage and deliver high-quality food services within the hospital. This role requires a professional with a Certificate in Hospitality or a related field, along with a KCSE certificate and at least one year of experience. The successful candidate will be proficient in computer applications and possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, demonstrating a strong commitment to providing high-quality and nutritious meals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and special diets for patients, as prescribed by medical staff.
- Oversee the daily operations of the hospital kitchen, ensuring efficiency and cleanliness.
- Manage food inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of supplies.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Supervise kitchen staff, if applicable, ensuring proper food handling and preparation techniques.
- Maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and reporting any malfunctions.
- Develop menus that are varied, appealing, and meet dietary requirements.
- Monitor food waste and implement strategies for cost control.
- Keep accurate records of food consumption, orders, and expenses.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to understand specific patient dietary needs.
- Ensure timely delivery of meals to patient wards and staff dining areas.
