Job Summary

The Clinical Officer is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care, including the diagnosis and treatment of common medical and surgical conditions. This role focuses heavily on preventive care and the management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). The incumbent will participate in public health initiatives while ensuring strict compliance with clinical regulatory and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical care by accurately diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.

  • Lead the management and follow-up of patients with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes.

  • Conduct routine preventive care screenings and health education for patients and their families.

  • Manage emergency cases with precision, utilizing BLS and ACLS protocols when necessary.

  • Participate actively in community-based public health initiatives and outreach programs.

  • Ensure all clinical documentation is accurate and maintain patient records using electronic health systems.

  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary medical team to ensure seamless patient flow and service delivery.

  • Maintain strict adherence to Clinical Officers Council regulations and the hospital’s ethical frameworks.

  • Utilize computer skills for efficient data entry, clinical analysis, and generating departmental reports.

  • Multitask and prioritize workload in a high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment.

  • Display resilience and diplomacy when working under pressure or in stressful clinical situations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.

  • Must be Registered with the Clinical Officers Council and possess a valid practicing license.

  • At least One (1) year of post-internship experience in either a public or private hospital.

  • Proven experience working in a busy health facility.

  • Specialized knowledge in NCD management is a key requirement.

  • Valid certificates in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Proficient computer skills for data management and analysis.

  • Excellent clinical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision with a high sense of self-initiative.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision in medical practice.
