Job Summary
The Locum Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care at the Outreach Clinics. This role involves performing detailed patient assessments, developing individualized care plans, and executing clinical procedures with precision. The successful candidate will ensure patient safety through strict adherence to infection control protocols and efficient resource management while supporting the clinic's administrative and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and re-assessments to identify specific patient care needs.
Develop, implement, and evaluate written care plans based on identified medical and nursing needs.
Conduct hemodynamic monitoring, including vital signs, neurological status, and fluid balance evaluations.
Administer medications safely, monitor for responses, and promptly report any adverse reactions.
Maintain adequate airway management, including the administration of oxygen therapy and nebulization.
Document all clinical data, investigation results, and multidisciplinary interactions accurately and timely.
Prepare for and assist physicians in various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the clinic.
Identify and implement patient and family education based on diagnosed health conditions.
Ensure a safe clinical environment through strict adherence to infection control practices and safety policies.
Oversee the safe disposal of clinical and non-clinical waste according to hospital guidelines.
Manage clinic resources through accurate billing of drugs and consumables and equipment maintenance.
Facilitate outpatient discharge procedures and ensure necessary follow-up appointments are scheduled.
Participate in clinic-based quality improvement (QI) projects, audits, and nursing education sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements
Registered Nurse (KRCHN/BScN) from a recognized school of nursing or university.
Must possess a current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Minimum of 2 years of continuous clinical experience specifically in medical-surgical nursing.
Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and reporting skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced outreach setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and family engagement.
