Job Summary
The Senior Nursing Officer will be responsible for providing holistic nursing care, conducting comprehensive assessments, planning and implementing evidence-based care, ensuring a safe environment, participating in audits, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to community health initiatives within Migori County.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing holistic care by conducting risk identification and assessment of individuals throughout their lifespan.
- Performing comprehensive physical examinations within various healthcare settings.
- Assessing, formulating, planning, and implementing evidence-based nursing care for clients/patients.
- Creating and maintaining a safe nursing care environment for clients/patients.
- Carrying out clinical audits to improve client/patient care outcomes.
- Collaborating and maintaining effective working relationships among interdisciplinary teams to support clients/patients and their families.
- Documenting interventions and nursing outcomes accurately and comprehensively.
- Conducting a community health risk assessment and providing outcome-based interventions.
- Participating in quality improvement and quality assurance procedures.
- Referring patients and clients appropriately to other healthcare professionals or facilities.
- Facilitating patients' admission processes and initiating discharge plans.
- Maintaining detailed records on patients'/clients' personal and health conditions/care provided.
- Following up on convalescing patients referred from higher facilities to ensure continuity of care.
- Conducting assessments of school health needs, planning and implementing interventions, and preparing periodic reports.
- Conducting occupational health needs assessments, planning, implementing, evaluating, making recommendations, and preparing periodic reports.
- Conducting community diagnoses and providing feedback to relevant stakeholders.
- Conducting desk reviews, collecting data, and implementing recommendations based on findings to improve nursing care practices.
Requirements for Appointment:
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Have relevant working experience of at least three (3) years in the public or private sector.
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in either Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
- Hold a Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Have a Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Possess a Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
