Job Summary
The Medical Officer will be responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases, performing medical and surgical procedures, responding to emergencies, managing medicines and equipment, providing health education, and maintaining medical records under the guidance of a senior officer within Migori County.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Representing the hospital and liaising with local and national authorities and donor agencies to promote hospital programs.
- Advising the management and board on clinical requirements.
- Carrying out surgical procedures when necessary and within their scope of practice.
- Conducting internal quality checks at the hospital to ensure adherence to standards.
- Developing clinical protocols and procedures in line with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Working under the guidance of a senior officer.
- Diagnosing, caring for, and treating diseases affecting patients.
- Performing medical and surgical procedures as required and within their level of training.
- Preparing for and responding to medical emergencies and disasters.
- Participating in the management of medicines, medical instruments, and equipment.
- Providing health education to patients and the community.
- Maintaining accurate medical records, health information, and data.
Requirements for Appointment:
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Possess a Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery (M.BCh.B.) degree from a recognized University.
- Have a minimum of B+ Mean Grade at KCSE.
- Have successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution.
- Hold a Registration Certificate from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Possess a Valid practicing license from KMPDC.
- Training and knowledge in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) are added advantages.
- A Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
