💰 Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 50,610 – 67,110 per month

Job Summary

The Dental Officer will be responsible for providing a range of dental care services, including diagnosis of oral conditions, treatment, prescription, and referral, performing minor oral and maxillofacial surgeries, prosthetics, and conservative dentistry, facilitating patient admissions and investigations, collecting dental health information, organizing discharge summaries, and acting as the first call on duty within the health facilities of Nakuru County.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive dental care, including diagnosing common oral conditions, treating ailments, prescribing necessary medications, and making appropriate referrals to specialists.
  • Carrying out minor oral and maxillofacial surgery, performing prosthetic procedures, and practicing conservative dentistry to restore and maintain oral health.
  • Facilitating admission of dental patients, assisting with disease investigations, preparing report writing, and assisting in theatre activities related to dental procedures.
  • Collecting information for the dental health information system to ensure accurate record-keeping and data management.
  • Organizing discharge summaries for patients and ensuring proper follow-up care is arranged.
  • Acting as the first call on duty for dental emergencies and patient concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • A Bachelors of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
  • Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution.
  • A Certificate of Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
  • A Valid practising license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
  • A Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
