Job Summary
Flexi-Personnel is seeking a meticulous Healthcare Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the accuracy and completeness of healthcare documentation, review clinical records for compliance, and identify areas for improvement. Reporting to the relevant supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing nurse notes, physician orders, and aide care plans, coordinating communication between healthcare teams, participating in performance improvement activities, and educating staff on quality standards. This role demands strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of healthcare documentation requirements, and the ability to work collaboratively to enhance the quality of care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review nurse notes and other clinical documents meticulously for accuracy and completeness before finalization and electronic submission, ensuring adherence to established standards.
- Return any incomplete or incorrect notes and documents to the relevant staff for thorough review and necessary corrections, maintaining data integrity.
- Review physician orders, medication profiles, and aide care plans in direct relation to the nurses’ notes to ensure comprehensive and consistent documentation of patient care.
- Conduct thorough reviews of all Medicaid and other episodic payers’ clinical records at the local level to ensure appropriate and accurate documentation for reimbursement purposes. This includes verifying documentation appropriateness, quality of care provided, visit utilization, physician contacts, adherence to care plans, and interdisciplinary communication.
- Coordinate effective communication between all team members, attending physicians, and caregivers to guarantee the appropriateness of patient care and outcome planning, ensuring compliance through documentation and care coordination reviews.
- Actively participate in performance improvement activities, continuously maintain and expand clinical knowledge through internal and external training programs, and effectively interpret and provide guidance on this knowledge to staff.
- Proactively identify clinical problem areas and meticulously document deficiency trends to facilitate timely corrective actions and prevent future occurrences.
- Educate administrative and clinical associate staff on the identified deficiencies and guide them in the accurate correction of these issues to improve overall documentation quality.
- Participate actively in biweekly meetings with relevant departments to report ongoing issues identified in the Quality Assurance and Clinical departments, contributing to collaborative problem-solving.
- Submit comprehensive weekly reports detailing the number of notes reviewed within the week and clearly identify any ongoing issues that require further and more in-depth review.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the management to support the overall quality assurance efforts and operational needs of the organization.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possess a University degree in Nursing or any other closely related medical-related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a professional nurse in a clinical setting.
- Currently licensed as a registered nurse and in "good standing" with the relevant nursing board.
- Demonstrated familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems for data management and reporting.
- Possess excellent analytical skills, particularly with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Must be a quick learner with a proven ability to adapt effectively to changing environments and processes.
- Proven ability to be a strong team player, collaborating effectively and positively with colleagues across different departments.
- Possess the ability to prioritize job tasks efficiently and effectively multitask functions to meet deadlines and manage workload.
- Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills with a strong and meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Must possess superb interpersonal and organizational skills with a well-demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Exhibit a strong ability to apply common sense understanding, sound judgment, and effective leadership to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
