Job Summary
The Catholic Diocese of Kitale - West Pokot Region is seeking a competent and compassionate Clinical Officer to conduct clinical assessments, diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments, perform minor procedures, refer patients as needed, and participate in health promotion activities. Based in the West Pokot region, the successful candidate will be crucial in providing primary healthcare services to the community served by Ortum Catholic Mission and the new Makutano Dispensary.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients, taking detailed medical histories and performing thorough physical examinations to arrive at accurate diagnoses.
- Prescribe appropriate treatments, therapies, and medications based on the patient's diagnosis and established medical guidelines.
- Perform minor surgical procedures and administer essential first aid interventions as required within their scope of practice.
- Refer patients to medical specialists for further evaluation and management when complex or specialized care is necessary.
- Actively participate in health promotion and disease prevention campaigns aimed at improving the overall health and well-being of the community.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation for all patients, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to medical record-keeping standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
- MUST possess a valid license to practice from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
- A minimum of 1-2 years’ clinical experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, demonstrating practical application of clinical skills.
- Exhibit excellent diagnostic, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to assess patients effectively and communicate findings clearly.
- Training in Emergency and Trauma Care will be considered a significant added advantage.
