Job Summary
The Medical Officer will lead the diagnostic, therapeutic, and emergency surgical or medical care workflows for all adult and pediatric patients. The position involves managing specialized outpatient clinics, directing inpatient admissions, performing emergency and elective clinical procedures, and ensuring strict compliance with national clinical guidelines and healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Patient Care: Autonomously assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions across the outpatient and inpatient departments.
Emergency Interventions: Lead emergency resuscitations, trauma management workflows, and provide critical life-saving interventions in the Accident & Emergency unit.
Ward Management: Direct daily ward rounds in the medical and surgical units, review treatment plans, and coordinate complex multi-disciplinary clinical interventions with nurses and specialists.
Surgical Procedures: Perform minor and major clinical or surgical procedures as qualified, ensuring strict adherence to theatre safety and aseptic protocols.
Patient & Family Counseling: Provide empathetic, thorough clinical breakdowns to patients and guardians regarding their diagnosis, treatment plans, and home care.
Accurate Documentation: Maintain meticulous, computerized, and physical records of patient medical histories, clinical logs, and progress summaries.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized and accredited university.
Must hold a valid registration and an active Practicing License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) for the current year.
Minimum of three (3) years of continuous clinical working experience as a Medical Officer operating within a busy, high-volume hospital setting.
Exceptionally strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to connect effortlessly with patients, colleagues, and hospital leadership.
