Job Purpose

The Hotel Nurse will lead the facility's in-house healthcare services, ensuring that guests and employees receive timely, professional medical care and emergency first aid. The role oversees the entire on-site clinic operations, maintains pharmaceutical stocks, coordinates occupational safety reporting, and monitors strict food safety and hygiene metrics across the property.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Care & Case Management

  • First-Line Consultation: Provide general health assessments and preliminary medical treatments to employees; administer emergency first aid care to hotel guests.

  • Convalescence Tracking: Actively monitor the recovery progress of employees and guests during illnesses, and liaise with attending external physicians to coordinate smooth return-to-work plans.

  • Sick-Off Enforcement: Review, verify, and log all staff sick-off certificates, maintaining an accurate and confidential company-wide sick-off register.

2. Occupational Health, Safety & Compliance

  • OSHA & WIBA Administration: Assist the Group HR Manager with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA) reporting; track and file official Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSH) forms with attending doctors.

  • HACCP & Food Safety: Chair and review Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Committee reports, conducting routine checks on general kitchen hygiene.

  • Medical Examinations: Organize and coordinate mandatory, biannual statutory medical check-ups for all food handlers, ensuring prompt treatment and re-testing for any diagnosed conditions.

  • Committee Leadership: Sit as a core member of the institutional Health and Safety Committee, steering internal safety audits and conducting quarterly awareness sessions on communicable diseases.

3. Clinic Administration

  • Inventory & Budgeting: Forecast and prepare the annual clinic budget, monitor monthly expenditure, and manage the procurement and control of essential medical supplies and first-aid kits.

  • Reporting: Compile and submit comprehensive monthly medical data and incident charts to the Group HR Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN / KRN) from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) or another recognized nursing training institution.

  • Must hold a valid, active practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) for the current year.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of active experience in a healthcare environment paired with a minimum of three (3) years of direct patient care experience.

  • Practical working knowledge of Kenyan occupational health and safety regulations, specifically OSHA and WIBA legal frameworks.

  • Prior training or familiarity with food safety management systems (HACCP / ISO 22000 guidelines).

  • Exceptional communication skills, crisis management abilities, and absolute discretion regarding confidential medical data.

  • Flexibility to work on an adaptable schedule, including nights, weekends, and rotating or on-call emergency shifts as operationally demanded by the hotel.
