Job Summary

The Medical Engineering Trainer will be responsible for delivering lectures and facilitating competency-based learning sessions in medical engineering subjects. This role involves designing curriculum support materials, supervising practical workshops and hospital attachments, and administering examinations in accordance with college regulations and TVET CDACC policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality lectures and facilitate competency-based learning sessions in assigned medical engineering units.

  • Prepare comprehensive teaching work plans, including schemes of work and lesson plans, aligned with the approved curriculum.

  • Develop relevant curriculum support materials, lesson notes, and both digital and physical learning resources.

  • Supervise student coursework, technical assignments, research projects, practical workshops, and clinical attachments.

  • Set, administer, invigilate, and grade examinations or Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) fairly.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and provide documented, timely feedback on student academic progress and technical competencies.

  • Mentor and guide students on professional engineering ethics, industrial trends, safety compliance, and career development.

  • Perform any other institutional duties as assigned by the supervisor or department head.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Engineering from a recognized/accredited institution.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching/training experience in a technical institution, OR two (2) or more years of relevant industry experience.

  • Must be Registered and Licensed as a Medical Engineer by the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya (AMEK).

  • Possession of a valid TVETA Trainer License (registration with TVETA) is highly desirable.

  • A professional certificate in Pedagogy (Teaching Skills) will be a distinct added advantage.

  • Strong technical knowledge of biomedical equipment, calibration, and hospital maintenance protocols.

  • Excellent instructional, communication, reporting, and organizational abilities.
