Job Summary
The Mortuary Science Trainer will be responsible for conducting technical training sessions in embalming, restorative arts, funeral directing, and mortuary administration. This role involves designing technical teaching materials, preparing professional records, evaluating practical laboratory exercises, and supervising students during industrial attachments in funeral homes in compliance with TVET CDACC standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct engaging instructional and practical training sessions in Mortuary Science subjects.
Develop relevant technical teaching/training materials tailored to the specific learning objectives of the course.
Prepare and maintain timely professional academic records, including schemes of work and lesson plans.
Monitor, evaluate, and maintain accurate records of student progress, clinical achievements, and daily attendance.
Instruct, guide, and supervise trainees during laboratory practical exercises, anatomy sessions, and industrial attachments.
Participate actively in the review and development of competency-based curricula and training programs.
Instill high levels of ethics, dignity, and professionalism in students regarding the handling of deceased individuals.
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Mortuary Science from a recognized/accredited institution.
Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in training, teaching, or industry-related funeral home roles.
Proven ability to effectively train and implement the TVET CDACC Curriculum.
Possession of a valid TVETA Trainer License (registration with TVETA) is highly desirable.
A professional certificate in Pedagogy (Teaching Skills) will be a distinct added advantage.
Deep knowledge of embalming techniques, restorative cosmetics, and occupational safety and health (OSH) procedures.
Excellent communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills.
