Job Summary
The Enrolled Nurse III is responsible for establishing patient healthcare needs and implementing nursing interventions to ensure optimal recovery and wellness. This role involves a wide range of clinical duties, from treating minor ailments and managing immunizations to conducting school health assessments and home visits for follow-up care. The successful candidate will maintain precise patient records and uphold a safe clinical environment in accordance with the Nursing Council of Kenya standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct thorough patient assessments to establish specific healthcare needs and priorities.
Plan and implement effective nursing care interventions tailored to individual patient health requirements.
Provide essential healthcare services, including routine immunizations, ante-natal care, and safe delivery assistance.
Refer patients and clients appropriately to specialized departments or senior medical officers when necessary.
Evaluate healthcare outcomes for each patient and prepare detailed, individualized progress reports.
Develop and execute discharge plans to ensure patients transition safely from clinical care to home recovery.
Carry out comprehensive assessments of school health needs within the county to promote student wellness.
Plan and implement community-based interventions and prepare periodic health reports for management.
Maintain meticulous patient records concerning personal details, health conditions, and administered care.
Ensure the clinical environment remains tidy, sterile, and safe for both staff and patients.
Take responsibility for the safe custody of in-patient belongings during their stay at the facility.
Conduct professional home visits to follow up on discharged patients and provide continuity of care.
Diagnose and treat minor ailments in accordance with established clinical guidelines and protocols.
Prepare and submit periodic reports on nursing activities and health outcomes to the immediate supervisor.
Collaborate with the wider medical team to ensure seamless service delivery within the health facility.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certificate in Kenya Enrolled Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse (KECHN), Kenya Enrolled Midwife, or Kenya Enrolled Psychiatric Nurse.
Official Enrolment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Possession of a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Recognized Certificate in computer application skills for modern health data management.
Demonstrated ability to assess patients and plan interventions independently or as part of a team.
Strong understanding of primary healthcare and maternal health services in Kenya.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills suitable for patient counseling and home visits.
Commitment to the values and principles of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
