Job Summary
The Senior Lecturer will play a pivotal role in teaching, curriculum development, and research within the Nursing and Midwifery Sciences department. The position requires a candidate with a PhD in Nursing (Medical Surgical Nursing) and a minimum of three years of full-time university-level teaching experience. The ideal candidate will be a strong academic leader with a proven track record in research, publications, and student supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Training: Deliver high-quality instruction in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences.
Curriculum Development: Actively participate in the development and review of curricula to ensure they meet academic and professional standards.
Research & Innovation: Engage in grant writing, research, and innovation. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate knowledge through various channels.
Student & Staff Mentorship: Supervise and mentor both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Mentor junior staff members to foster their professional growth.
Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with the quality assurance and accreditation requirements of relevant regulatory bodies.
Administrative Support: Support the Head of Department in the strategic development and administration of programs.
Assessment: Set and mark assignments and examinations, conduct practical sessions, and provide feedback to students.
Other Duties: Participate in departmental fundraising activities and undertake other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications & Experience
PhD in Nursing (Medical Surgical Nursing) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
A minimum of 28 peer-reviewed publication points since being appointed as a lecturer or senior lecturer.
Registration with relevant professional bodies.
A minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at the university level. Alternatively, at least six (6) years of industry experience in the relevant field.
Experience supervising at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion.
Proven ability in grant writing and leading research projects.
Excellent communication skills, high integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
