Job Summary
Our client, a growing agribusiness company, is seeking an experienced and practical General Manager to lead the setup and growth of its new dried fruit division in Malindi. This hands-on, business-minded role involves planning, managing daily operations, leading teams, and driving local and international sales, establishing a new unit from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the dried fruit division and ensure it meets the company’s overall goals.
- Manage day-to-day activities, including production, procurement, quality control, staffing, and logistics.
- Develop business plans, set up operational policies, and manage annual budgets.
- Lead sales efforts, expand into export markets, and support new product development.
- Ensure the division follows food safety standards and meets local and international certification requirements (e.g., HACCP, ISO, Organic, BRC).
- Hire, train, and manage teams in production, sales, and office functions.
- Track business performance and report progress to senior management.
- Follow company values and ensure legal compliance, especially in labor and environmental matters.
- Drive the growth of the new unit from its inception.
Qualifications & Experience
- A degree in Business, Food Technology, Agriculture, or a related field (a master’s degree is an added advantage).
- At least 8 years of experience in a leadership role in food processing, agribusiness, or the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record in factory/start-up management, supply chain leadership, and market growth.
- Experience working with dried fruits or other value-added agricultural products.
- Understanding of export markets and international food safety and certification standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO, Organic, BRC).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
