Job Summary
The Accounts Officer will be a strategic and hands-on professional responsible for financial reporting, premium accounting, claims processing, and reinsurance accounting within a leading insurance brokerage firm. This role emphasizes compliance with regulatory standards, strong internal controls, and active participation in audits and financial modeling to support the organization's growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements specific to insurance operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Premium Accounting: Manage premium trust accounts, client invoicing, and reconciliation of premiums and commissions.
- Claims Processing: Oversee the processing of claims payments and refunds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Reinsurance Accounting: Record, analyze, and report on transactions related to risk transfer between insurance companies.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls specific to insurance accounting to safeguard assets.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assess the financial impact of new insurance regulations and adjust accounting practices accordingly.
- Financial Modelling: Develop and maintain financial models to predict future trends in insurance underwriting profitability.
- Effectively support all aspects of engagement delivery end-to-end.
- Stay open-minded and curious about tax and regulatory developments globally.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or a diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification will be preferred.
- 3–5 years of accounting or underwriting experience, preferably within an insurance brokerage firm.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy (Analytical Skills).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Understanding of insurance industry regulations and accounting principles.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality deliverables.
- A self-driven and result-oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision.
