Job Purpose
This position at the SRC is responsible for the crucial analysis and interpretation of remuneration data. The Senior Officer, Job Evaluation and Salary Structures, will primarily focus on carrying out job evaluation in line with relevant guidelines to ensure the achievement of equitable, affordable, and fair remuneration across the entire public sector in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks
Operational Responsibilities / Tasks
- Analyze remuneration for all State and Public Officers to ensure the rationalization and harmonization of remuneration structures.
- Undertake comprehensive studies on remuneration trends in the market for state, public, and private sectors to determine the comparable worth of jobs in the public sector.
- Evaluate existing and proposed remuneration packages to inform analysis and recommendations to the Commission.
- Conduct comparative analysis of submitted remuneration data against several defined parameters/models and make appropriate recommendations and forecasts in line with current and expected future trends.
- Carry out job evaluation and re-evaluation of jobs in public sector institutions as per the job evaluation guidelines approved by the Commission.
- Implement and report on job evaluation and salary structures work plans.
- Identify and report on the functional risk elements arising from departmental operations.
- Prepare reports arising from the proceedings of the Commission’s Technical Committee meetings.
- Draft communication letters to public sector institutions arising from Commission decisions in matters relating to remuneration.
- Collect and collate data on salary surveys to provide benchmark salaries payable to public officers.
- Provide technical support in the implementation of Job Evaluation grading and salary structures to public sector institutions.
- Continuously update the grading and salary structure database of all Jobs in the Public Sector.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on job evaluation and salary structures to the Supervisor.
- Provide individual feedback to enhance business processes and initiate process improvement to achieve operational excellence.
- Develop individual work plans, monitor own performance, and seek requisite support to ensure the delivery of agreed targets.
- Develop and continuously update the stakeholder database to enhance efficiency in communication.

Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Economics, Human Resources, Statistics, Public Administration) or a relevant field of study from a recognized university.
Professional Qualifications / Membership to Professional Bodies
- Possess a relevant professional qualification.
- Membership to a relevant professional body (e.g., IHRM for HR professionals) is required.
Previous Relevant Work Experience
- Relevant work experience of at least six (6) years in a reputable organization.
