Overall Responsibility

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with patients to develop, recover, or maintain their daily living activities and work skills, catering to individuals with physical, mental, or developmental conditions. The role also requires active participation within the hospital's healthcare team and excellent public relations skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessment of client’s aspects of performance to effectively support engagement in occupations that significantly affect their health, overall well-being, and life quality.
  • Apply targeted interventions aimed at maximizing the client's safety and independent performance in both activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
  • Teach clients innovative ways of approaching tasks and provide comprehensive education on how to break down complex activities into manageable and achievable components.
  • Recommend and fabricate adaptive equipment tailored to the client's specific needs and provide thorough training in its proper use.

The Requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized / certified institution. A BSc in Occupational Therapy will be a significant added advantage.
  • Must be registered with KOTA (Kenya Occupational Therapist Association).
  • At least one year of work experience gained after the mandatory three-month period of internship.
  • Any specialized training in areas that fall under rehabilitation will be considered a valuable added advantage.
  • Should possess a working knowledge of a Hospital Management Information System and be computer literate.
