Job Summary

The Nairobi Women's Hospital is seeking an experienced and qualified Lecturer - Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine to deliver high-quality instruction, assessment, and evaluation to students in this specialized discipline. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality theoretical and practical instruction in Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine to students, adhering to approved curricula and educational standards.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive teaching materials, including lecture notes, case studies, practical manuals, assignments, and examination papers relevant to the discipline.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance regularly through examinations, clinical practical tests, presentations, and other assessment methods.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to facilitate their learning, clinical reasoning, and academic progress in Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine.
  • Supervise student practical sessions, clinical rotations, and research activities, ensuring safety, ethical practice, and adherence to professional standards.
  • Participate actively in curriculum development and review processes, contributing to the enhancement and modernization of Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine training programs.
  • Conduct academic counseling and mentorship for students, guiding them in their professional development and career aspirations within orthopedic and trauma care.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with the latest advancements in Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine and effective pedagogical approaches.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must possess a Degree or Higher Diploma in a relevant area (e.g., Clinical Medicine, Orthopedic Technology, Nursing with a specialization in Orthopedics/Trauma).
  • Must have additional training in TVET Education or Pedagogy.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience is mandatory.
  • Must be registered by the relevant professional body, where applicable (e.g., Clinical Officers Council, Nursing Council of Kenya).
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic conditions, trauma management, surgical procedures, and rehabilitation principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex medical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to effectively assess and evaluate student learning, both theoretically and clinically.
