The County Public Service Board, on behalf of the County Government of Tana River, according to Section 59(1) and 66 of the County Governments Act 2012, as read together with Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

1. Medical Officer (3 Posts) – J/G ‘M’

Job Overview:

  • Location: Tana River County

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients.
  • Performing medical and surgical procedures.
  • Preparing and responding to emergencies.
  • Managing medicine, medical instruments, and equipment.
  • Providing health education and maintaining medical records.
  • Coaching medical and nursing students.
  • Preparing requisite documents for registration.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) from a recognized university.
  • Successfully completed a one-year internship.
  • Valid registration and practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
  • Certificate in computer application skills.

2. Registered Clinical Officer II (8 Posts) – J/G ‘J’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing and treating common ailments.
  • Implementing community health care activities.
  • Providing health education and counseling.
  • Referring patients to appropriate health facilities.
  • Performing minor surgical procedures.
  • Collecting and compiling clinical data.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery/Community Health.
  • Certificate of Registration and valid practicing license from Clinical Officers’ Council.
  • Certificate in computer application skills.
  • Three years of experience as a Registered Clinical Officer III.

3. Registered Nurse III (20 Posts) – J/G ‘H’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing healthcare services including immunization, antenatal care, and delivery.
  • Assessing and planning patient care.
  • Ensuring a safe clinical environment.
  • Collecting and maintaining patient records.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in Nursing, Midwifery, or Mental Health from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Valid practicing license.
  • Certificate in computer application skills.

4. Enrolled Nurse III (6 Posts) – J/G ‘G’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assessing and planning patient care.
  • Providing immunization, antenatal care, and delivery services.
  • Conducting home visits and follow-ups.
  • Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certificate in Nursing/Midwifery from a recognized institution.
  • Enrollment Certificate and valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Certificate in computer application skills.

5. Nutrition & Dietetics Technologist III (2 Posts) – J/G ‘H’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implementing nutrition assessment.
  • Providing nutrition health education.
  • Monitoring therapeutic feeding programs.
  • Promoting maternal and child feeding programs.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Council of the Institute of Nutritionists and Dietitians (CIND).
  • Certificate in computer application skills.

6. Assistant Public Health Officer III (6 Posts) – J/G ‘H’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mobilizing communities on environmental health matters.
  • Carrying out immunization programs.
  • Identifying environmental health issues.
  • Collecting and maintaining public health data.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in Environmental Health/Public Health Inspection.
  • Valid registration with the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC).
  • Certificate in computer application skills.

7. Orthopedic Trauma Technologist III (1 Post) – J/G ‘H’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manipulating and reducing fractures.
  • Fixing and removing casts, bandages, and tractions.
  • Counseling patients on orthopedic trauma.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in Orthopedic Plaster Technology.
  • Valid practicing license from the Kenya Orthopedic Association (KOA).
  • Certificate in computer application skills.

8. Public Health Assistant III (4 Posts) – J/G ‘G’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mobilizing and advising communities on public health.
  • Identifying environmental health issues at the household level.
  • Collecting and maintaining health records.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certificate in Environmental Health/Public Health Technology.
  • Registration with the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC).
  • Certificate in computer application skills.

9. Health Records & Information Technologist III (1 Post) – J/G ‘H’

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and documenting patients.
  • Registering and booking patient appointments.
  • Storing and retrieving medical records.
  • Capturing and maintaining clinical data.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in Health Records & Information Management.
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies.
  • Certificate in computer application skills.
