Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end administration and operational success of research activities in Kirinyaga. This involves securing necessary authorizations, managing project finances, leading a field research team, and maintaining strong relationships with county health and education authorities. The manager ensures that all research tasks are completed within stipulated timelines and budgets while mitigating risks to study progress.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and submit project authorization documents to NACOSTI, County Commissioners, and Directors of Health and Education.
Field Operations: Plan, coordinate, and execute all scheduled research field sampling and data collection activities.
Team Leadership: Provide day-to-day management of the project team, addressing concerns and fostering a productive work environment.
Strategic Planning: Support the PI with high-level program management, including strategic resource planning and financial analysis.
Stakeholder Engagement: Work with partners, sponsors, and researchers to ensure project objectives and goals are aligned and achieved.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Routinely monitor activities, review risks and issues, and take corrective actions to protect research deadlines.
Event Management: Organize and deliver project events, including collaboration meetings, community engagement workshops, and seminars.
HR Coordination: Oversee the recruitment of assigned project staff to ensure the timely and efficient use of human resources.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant field (Mandatory).
Master’s Degree or Postgraduate Diploma (Added Advantage).
Proven experience managing projects of similar scope or scale (Mandatory).
Proficiency in computer applications for project management and reporting (Mandatory).
Strong Planning and Organizational skills with an ability to manage complex logistics.
Exceptional Communication, Reporting, and Interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated Critical Thinking, creativity, and innovativeness in problem-solving.
Proven ability to act as a collaborative Team Player in a high-pressure environment.
