Job Summary
The Medical Officer is responsible for delivering expert clinical care while providing leadership within the facility. This role involves making critical clinical decisions, managing patient cases across both public and private health schemes, and ensuring adherence to Kenyan health laws and regulations. The incumbent will oversee patient management and contribute to the institution's reporting and documentation excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and specialized treatment for a diverse patient population.
Lead the clinical team in complex patient management and strategic decision-making.
Ensure all medical practices comply with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and national health policies.
Manage and review patient cases within various healthcare schemes, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
Oversee accurate clinical documentation and reporting procedures within the facility.
Utilize Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for efficient patient data entry and clinical analysis.
Provide emergency care and lead life-saving interventions using BLS and ACLS protocols.
Collaborate with both public and private sector stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
Mentor and supervise clinical staff, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.
Write and review comprehensive clinical and administrative reports for hospital management.
Maintain a high level of communication and interpersonal interaction with staff and patients.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or MBBS) from a recognized university.
Must be Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid practicing license.
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, including at least one (1) year of internship in a public or private hospital.
Valid certificates in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Proven leadership experience within a medical or clinical setting.
Proficiency in computer skills, specifically in Health Management Information Systems.
Deep knowledge of Kenyan healthcare policies, laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Strong clinical decision-making and report-writing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for stakeholder engagement.
