Job Summary

The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality radiological services using ultrasound technology to provide accurate diagnostic information. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to obtain and interpret images that assist in patient management. The successful candidate will ensure that all procedures are conducted with precision and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, and small parts scans.

  • Obtain, analyze, and interpret sonographic images to provide accurate diagnostic information to referring doctors.

  • Collaborate with the clinical team to assist in patient care planning based on imaging results.

  • Ensure the safety and comfort of patients throughout the imaging process.

  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance and diagnostic accuracy.

  • Generate and write detailed, accurate ultrasound reports in a timely manner.

  • Utilize Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for data entry and clinical record management.

  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and standards as set by the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

  • Maintain professionalism and effective communication with patients and the medical team.

  • Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in medical imaging and sonography.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Higher Diploma in Ultrasound and/or Radiology.

  • Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences from a recognized institution.

  • At least one (1) year of work experience in a busy clinical or hospital setting.

  • Must be Registered and licensed by the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

  • Active member of the Society of Radiography in Kenya (SORK).

  • Strong report writing skills and clinical documentation abilities.

  • Proficiency in computer skills, specifically in Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
