Job Summary

The Nursing Trainer is responsible for delivering technical instruction in nursing subjects to students enrolled in various healthcare programs. The role involves curriculum design, student evaluation, and the supervision of trainees during clinical placements and industrial attachments. The trainer will also engage in research within the nursing field to ensure training materials remain relevant and evidence-based.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality training sessions on technical nursing and community health subjects.

  • Monitor and evaluate student progress through continuous assessments and examinations.

  • Supervise students during Industrial Attachment to ensure the acquisition of practical clinical skills.

  • Undertake research in the respective training area to enhance the polytechnic's academic output.

  • Design and develop curriculum and training materials tailored to specific learning objectives.

  • Provide mentorship and career guidance to nursing students.

  • Ensure all training activities comply with the standards set by TVETA and the Nursing Council of Kenya.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and clinical logs.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and institutional development activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Community Nursing or a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BScN).

  • Must possess a Certificate in Pedagogy (Teaching Skills).

  • Must be Registered with TVETA as a trainer.

  • Must be Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) with a valid license.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to design instructional materials and assessments.

  • Commitment to the professional and ethical standards of both the nursing and teaching professions.
