Job Summary
The Clinical Officer will be responsible for provisioning quality outpatient and inpatient clinical services. This includes taking detailed patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and instituting appropriate treatment plans. The incumbent will ensure strict adherence to national clinical guidelines, patient safety protocols, and the ethical standards of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed patient consultations, clinical examinations, and diagnoses in outpatient and inpatient departments.
Prescribe appropriate medications and initiate treatment plans in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic laboratory and radiological investigations.
Perform minor surgical procedures within the scope of clinical medicine and surgery.
Manage medical emergencies efficiently and coordinate timely referrals to specialized consultants when necessary.
Document patient records accurately, maintaining strict confidentiality and proper medical histories.
Participate in ward rounds, clinical audits, and continuous medical education (CME) sessions within the hospital.
Collaborate with the broader healthcare team to ensure seamless and holistic patient care.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine and Community Health OR a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized medical training institution.
Must be Registered by the Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya.
Possession of a valid, up-to-date practicing license for the current year.
Valid Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution (essential for electronic medical records).
Must provide a recommendation letter from a religious leader, who must be listed as one of your official referees.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and diagnostic skills.
Commitment to uphold the Christian ethos and values of a faith-based hospital.
