Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse Instructor will be responsible for delivering classroom lectures and practical clinical demonstrations to nursing students. This role involves designing lesson plans, coordinating clinical placements, evaluating student performance, and guiding learners through their Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) licensure exam preparation while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction: Deliver comprehensive lectures and practical demonstrations using diverse, engaging methodologies.
Curriculum & Lesson Planning: Develop detailed lesson plans, schemes of work, and curriculum support resources.
Student Mentorship: Provide academic advising, mentor students through research projects, and supervise clinical placements.
Assessment & Evaluation: Design and administer exams, quizzes, and objective practical evaluations, providing timely, constructive feedback.
Licensure Preparation: Guide and prepare learners for national professional nursing licensure examinations.
Compliance & Accreditation: Ensure teaching practices comply with institutional policies, helping maintain proper program accreditation documentation.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional learning and actively participate in college community outreach activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be a qualified Registered Nurse (KRN, RM, KRCHN, KRNM, or BScN).
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree from a recognized institution.
Possession of a valid, active practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on clinical nursing experience in a busy hospital setting.
Demonstrated experience in coaching, tutoring, or mentoring medical learners.
Previous teaching experience in a formal nursing education program is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of nursing theory, clinical practice, and infection prevention protocols.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate students under pressure.
