Job Summary
The Architectural Assistant III is responsible for translating architectural concepts into precise technical drawings and blueprints to guide county construction projects. This role involves interpreting complex engineering data and integrating it into preliminary designs to ensure structural and aesthetic integrity. The successful candidate will work closely with senior architects to deliver high-quality infrastructure that meets the needs of the Tana River community.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare detailed preliminary architectural drawings based on the lead Architect’s sketches and conceptual designs.
Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure they align with architectural requirements.
Incorporate structural, mechanical, and electrical details into the preliminary blueprints for county buildings.
Utilize advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create and modify technical building plans.
Conduct site visits in Hola and surrounding areas to verify measurements and assess site conditions for new projects.
Ensure all designs and sketches comply with the Building Code and local physical planning regulations.
Collaborate with the Civil Engineering department to resolve technical discrepancies in project plans.
Maintain an organized digital and physical archive of all architectural drawings and project specifications.
Assist in the preparation of project reports and documentation required for technical approvals.
Support the department in creating visualizations and 3D models for stakeholder presentations.
Monitor construction progress on-site to ensure work is proceeding according to the approved architectural sketches.
Assist in the review of building applications submitted to the county for planning permission.
Liaise with the immediate supervisor to provide regular updates on the progress of assigned drafting tasks.
Ensure that all drawings are scaled accurately and include necessary annotations for contractors and artisans.
Participate in departmental planning meetings to contribute to the county's urban development strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Technician Certificate Part III in Architecture, Building Engineering, or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
Valid and active Membership with the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK).
Recognized Certificate in computer application skills, with proficiency in drafting software like AutoCAD or ArchiCAD.
Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and translate them into architectural designs.
Deep knowledge of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 regarding public service and regional development.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in technical drafting.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and planners.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with a commitment to professional ethics.
