Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for performing routine diagnostic tests and preparing reagents. This role involves the full spectrum of laboratory work, including specimen collection, examination, and the accurate recording and dispatching of results. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences and a valid practicing certificate from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians & Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare reagents and stains for laboratory use.
Examine specimens and write and record results accurately.
Decontaminate working benches and other surfaces to maintain a sterile environment.
Receive and scrutinize requisition forms for accuracy before processing.
Prepare clients for the collection of specimens.
Receive, collect, label, and register specimens.
Disaggregate specimens for processing and analysis.
Perform routine diagnostic tests to aid in clinical management.
Dispatch results for clinical management in a timely manner.
Perform blood grouping and other blood-related tests.
Issue blood and blood products to peripheral health facilities.
Store blood products according to their specific requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians & Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
A Valid Practicing Certificate from the KMLTTB.
Proficiency in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values and principles of the Kenyan Constitution, 2010.
Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
