Job Summary
The Junior Trainer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating training and assessment for students in a clinically oriented course. This role involves preparing lesson plans, conducting lectures and tutorials, mentoring students, and participating in curriculum development. The successful candidate will be a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for teaching.
Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of training.
Prepare lesson plans, learning guides, and other teaching materials for assigned lessons.
Upload learning materials for students to the college's learning management system.
Plan and conduct lectures, tutorials, and practical skills sessions.
Develop formative and summative assessment materials and evaluate student performance.
Mentor, guide, and advise students on their learning and professional development.
Participate in any other activities related to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching.
Guide and support interns, student facilitators, and other junior staff.
Participate in related research within the college.
Ensure the curriculum is up-to-date with trends and developments in healthcare.
Provide counselling and support to students as needed.
Contribute to the development of professional behavior among students.
Utilize training-related computer systems and software effectively.
Actively participate in the evaluation of assessments to improve the learning process.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Diploma or Degree in Nursing, Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine, Physiotherapy, Peri-Operative Technology, Clinical Medicine, or a related clinically oriented course.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in providing healthcare services.
Must be registered and in good standing with a relevant regulatory body, such as the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHPOA).
A teaching qualification in medical education or preparedness to obtain one.
Registered as a trainer with TVETA or preparedness to register.
Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Strong organizational, leadership, and social skills.
Proficiency in using training-related computer systems and software.
A higher diploma or BSc is an added advantage.
Experience with e-learning and/or blended learning is an advantage.
Experience with mentoring adolescents and training healthcare workers is a plus.
