Job Summary
The Research & Policy Associate – SRHR will be responsible for generating evidence, conducting policy analysis, and engaging with stakeholders to advance SRHR in Africa. This position involves designing and implementing research, developing policy briefs, managing projects, and contributing to resource mobilization efforts to ensure the success of AFIDEP’s mission.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design, implement, and analyze SRHR research using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Conduct critical policy analysis and develop high-quality policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials.
Manage SRHR-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and efficient use of resources.
Contribute to resource mobilization by writing grant proposals and fostering new partnerships.
Represent AFIDEP at high-level forums and engage with policymakers, civil society, and development partners.
Ensure all research and policy work aligns with the organization's strategic goals.
Present research findings at conferences and workshops.
Collaborate with internal and external teams to coordinate project activities.
Monitor policy developments and analyze their implications for SRHR in Africa.
Provide technical support and advice on SRHR issues to stakeholders.
Maintain accurate project documentation and prepare timely reports for donors and management.
Participate in strategic discussions and planning sessions to shape the future direction of the SRHR program.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
Disseminate research findings through various communication channels, including publications and online platforms.
Advise on best practices for evidence-based policymaking in the SRHR field.
Qualifications & Requirements
Master’s degree in Demography, Public Health, or a related Social/Health Science field.
At least two years of experience in both research and policy work on SRHR.
Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and statistical/qualitative software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, NVivo).
Proven experience in project management and policy engagement.
Excellent writing skills, with a track record of developing policy briefs.
A strong portfolio of publications and successful grant proposals is an advantage.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
A deep understanding of SRHR issues in the African context.
Demonstrated ability to represent an organization at high-level forums.
