Job Summary
The Operation Theatre Technician will be responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting the surgical team during procedures. The role is open to candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Theatre Technology and at least 2 years of experience. The successful candidates will be part of a caring team dedicated to putting patients first.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments for all procedures.
Ensure a sterile environment is maintained at all times to prevent infection.
Assist surgeons and nurses during operations by passing instruments and equipment.
Monitor and maintain the functioning of all theatre equipment, including anesthesia machines.
Clean and disinfect surgical instruments and the operating room after each procedure.
Assist in transferring patients to and from the operating theatre.
Handle and dispose of surgical waste and specimens according to hospital protocols.
Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment in the operating theatre.
Provide assistance to the surgical and anesthetic teams as required.
Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.
Collaborate effectively with the entire medical team to ensure smooth operations.
Report any defective equipment for repair or replacement.
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Theatre Technology from a recognized institution.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Proven experience working as an Operation Theatre Technician or a related role.
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
Excellent understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols.
The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
High level of professionalism and integrity.
