Job Summary

The County Government of Tharaka Nithi is recruiting 10 Registered Nurses specializing in Critical Care to provide high-level nursing services. These roles require a Kenyan citizen with a Diploma in Nursing and a Higher National Diploma in Critical Care Nursing, along with valid registration and a practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya. Successful candidates will be instrumental in monitoring and providing specialized care to critically ill patients within county health facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Offer specialized nursing services to critically ill patients in clinics and specific units.

  • Be responsible for continuous monitoring and assessment of patients in relevant critical care units within the facility.

  • Evaluate and contribute to the improvement of critical care nursing practice protocols.

  • Provide guiding and counseling services to patients, clients, and staff on various health issues.

  • Refer patients and clients to appropriate health facilities or specialized units within the facility for further care.

  • Coach and mentor nursing students and other healthcare trainees on attachment within the critical care setting.

  • Organize and participate in health management teams and convene health management committee meetings to discuss patient care strategies.

  • Collect and compile data for research purposes related to nursing services and critical care outcomes.

  • Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of specialized critical care equipment.

  • Administer medications and treatments precisely, observing for adverse reactions.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including critical observations and interventions.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive patient care plans.

  • Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and their families during critical periods.

  • Adhere strictly to professional ethics, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines set by the Nursing Council of Kenya.

  • Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor to ensure optimal patient care and departmental functioning.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Be a Kenyan citizen.

  • Be a holder of at least a Diploma in Nursing from an institution recognized by the Nursing Council of Kenya.

  • Be a holder of a Higher National Diploma in Critical Care Nursing from an institution recognized by the Nursing Council of Kenya.

  • Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya as a Critical Care Nurse.

  • Possess a valid Practicing License from the Nursing Council of Kenya as a Critical Care Nurse.

  • Must be computer literate.
