Job Summary
The Registered Clinical Officer (Cardiologist) at Vihiga County Government will be responsible for providing specialized cardiac care, including patient history taking, examination, diagnosis, ordering and interpreting investigations, treating common ailments, performing surgical procedures as per training, and providing community health services. This role emphasizes patient guidance, preventive health sensitization, and accurate clinical data management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Taking patient history, examining, diagnosing, and ordering laboratory and imaging investigations.
- Interpreting laboratory and imaging results, specifically within cardiology.
- Treating patients' common ailments at an outpatient or inpatient health facility.
- Providing community health care services in liaison with other health workers.
- Guiding and counseling patients, clients, and staff on health issues.
- Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health.
- Carrying out surgical procedures as per training and skill.
- Collecting and compiling clinical data.
- Providing clinical outreach and school health services.
- Organizing health management teams and convening health management committee meetings.
- Preparing medico-legal briefs on clinical services.
- Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities for further specialized care.
Requirements for Appointment
Direct appointment for Higher National Diploma Holders:
- Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (Cardiology) or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers' Council.
- Valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers' Council.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
