Job Summary
The Great Lakes Medical Centre is looking for a Medical Officer to provide comprehensive medical services to patients. This role demands a professional with a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery and a valid license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, a team player, and deeply committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough medical examinations and accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries.
- Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients, including prescribing medications.
- Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatments as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Manage patients across various hospital departments, including outpatient and inpatient settings, and conduct ward rounds.
- Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
- Perform minor surgical procedures and emergency interventions when required.
- Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families on preventive care and disease management.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential medical records and documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the hospital.
- Adhere strictly to medical ethics, professional standards, and national guidelines.
- Participate in continuous medical education (CME) and professional development activities.
- Contribute to hospital quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
- Utilize computer applications for patient management and administrative tasks.
- Ensure a safe and hygienic clinical environment for both patients and staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- License by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Proficiency in computer application skills.
