Job Summary
The Great Lakes Medical Centre is looking for a Community Oral Health Officer to deliver comprehensive oral health services. This role involves promoting dental hygiene, providing preventive and basic curative dental care, and contributing to community health initiatives. The successful candidate will have a Diploma in Community Oral Health, a valid license, and demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills with a commitment to high-quality patient care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct oral health assessments and diagnose common oral diseases.
- Provide basic dental treatments, such as fillings, extractions, and scaling.
- Perform preventive procedures, including fluoride application and pit and fissure sealants.
- Educate individuals and communities on oral hygiene practices and healthy dietary habits.
- Organize and participate in community oral health promotion programs and outreach activities.
- Refer complex dental cases to dentists or specialists as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate patient dental records and ensure confidentiality.
- Sterilize dental instruments and maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.
- Manage and maintain dental equipment, ensuring its proper functioning.
- Dispense prescribed oral health medications.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Participate in continuous professional development to stay updated on oral health practices.
- Manage dental supplies and inventory effectively.
- Contribute to hospital quality improvement initiatives related to oral health.
- Provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
- Valid license from Oral Health Association of Kenya or Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
- Working experience of 1 year.
- Proficiency in computer application skills.
- Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to providing high-quality care and excellence.
