Job Summary
The County Government of Lamu is seeking two skilled and dedicated Pharmaceutical Technologist III professionals to ensure the efficient and accurate dispensing of medications and provision of pharmaceutical services. The successful candidates will be responsible for interpreting prescriptions, dispensing drugs, managing pharmacy inventory, and providing drug information to patients and healthcare professionals within the Lamu region, playing a vital role in patient care and medication safety.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Interpreting and dispensing medications according to prescriptions issued by authorized medical practitioners.
- Ensuring the accuracy of dispensed medications and providing clear instructions to patients on their use and storage.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of dispensed medications and patient information.
- Managing pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, storing, and dispensing drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies.
- Ensuring proper storage conditions for medications to maintain their efficacy.
- Providing information and advice to healthcare professionals and patients on drug interactions, side effects, and dosage.
- Participating in medication management and safety initiatives within the healthcare facility.
- Compounding and preparing medications as required, following established procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and secure pharmacy environment.
- Adhering to all relevant pharmacy laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines.
- Participating in continuous professional development to stay updated on pharmaceutical practices and advancements.
- Assisting in the training and supervision of pharmacy support staff as needed.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to this grade, the officer Must:
- Be a Kenyan Citizen (possess a National Identity Card/ Passport).
- Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a mean grade C and at least a C in Chemistry or Physical Science, a C in Biology or Biological Science, a C in English or Kiswahili, and a C in Physics or Mathematics or relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
- Be a holder of a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized training institution.
- Be registered by the Pharmacy & Poisons Board.
- Possess a Valid practicing license.
- Hold a Certificate in computer application.
- Have shown merit and ability in work performance and results.
